Sunday 22nd July 2012   by Dave W.

Janet's figure-8 consisted of the two walks described in a National Trust leaflet entitled "Octavia Hill Centenary Trail", around Toy's Hill, Kent.

Octavia Hill (1838-1912) was a social reformer, philanthropist, artist and writer.
She was one of the founders of the National Trust in 1895.
See for more information.

This decorative sign in the public garden at Crockham Hill includes a plaque dedicated to her...

...and this is her gravestone underneath a yew tree in front of Holy Trinity Church.
We had our morning tea stop on benches in a nearby field.

The whole day was wonderfully sunny, with cloudless sky.

I wish I'd taken a few more photos!

Many thanks to Janet for leading just the three of us followers.
