Sunday 15 May 2011   by Clive S.

Seventeen of us took part in some or all of this walk from Ewhurst.
Much of the first half of the morning was through Baynard's Park...

...now more distinguished by its interesting footpath signs than by the ruins of its burnt down mansion.

The second half of the morning took us along the Sussex Border Path and through the rhododendron lined glades of Honeywood House.

After a good lunch at the Punchbowl Inn in Oakwoodhill we found our way to the difficult-to-find 13th century chapel of St John the Baptist, "the loneliest church in Surrey".

It was then north over stiles...

...and through buttercup meadows...

...to pass close to the always immaculate Lukyns Farm.

Our return to Ewhurst was marked by cool down exercises...

...and our customary tea.
